(OLB) Kevin Basped -- Nevada

*#99 *6-6 *250lbs *4.65/40 *2010/JR

OUTSIDE LINEBACKER

Strengths

Heading into the Indianapolis combine (as this profile is written) he is listed at Defensive End, but should quickly establish himself as one of the top Outside Linebacker prospects coming out in the NFL Draft. Making his mark in the NFL as a dominate Outside Linebacker/ rush Defensive End hybrid.

He possesses ideal size, athleticism, and measurables scouts and NFL teams look for from the position. Though he is currently listed at defensive end his skill sets dictate his best long term success at the Outside Linebacker position. .

Despite what some may say of a thin build (which allows for upside & growth) he displayed surprising overall strength and tenacity at the point of attack as an undersized collegiate Defensive End.

The hybrid Outside Linebacker/ rush Defensive End position requires a unique and talented athlete, and Basped truly fits all the requirements! He provides a consistent rush off the edge, with extraordinary first step explosion. Making him a handful to block in any situation.

He is a nightmare, and an imposing presence on the field. His play on the field commands respect from opposing blockers and teams to deal with. And like all playmakers, he possesses that something special to create momentum changing plays at any time in the game!

With him moving from his collegiate position of Defensive End to the Outside Linebacker position in the NFL. The position move only enhances his play on the field. No longer would he have to contend with O-Linemen on the line of scrimmage at times weighing 100lbs bigger than he. Limiting his play in space, and inevitably wearing him down physically by games end.

At Outside Linebacker he is able to display his talents more clearly. With excellent change of direction, lateral movement, and fluid hips for a player his size. Possessing the quickness and reactionary skills of players much smaller than he. And the closing speed to run down plays from the backside or anywhere along the field.

He plays defense as though he were on offense. Initiating action to opponents and forcing them to react to what he is doing on the field. Dictating the pace and tempo of the game being played that day on his terms.

His ceiling and upside is only limited to how much he is willing to put into making himself the best he can be. Athletically he possesses individual gifts normally not witnessed in one package by a player. His future dominance at the NFL level is there for the taking if he wants it!

Weaknesses
Unknown production with position change from Defensive End to Outside Linebacker

Improved success taking on opponents lower chop blocks

Projected Round
5th - 6th Rounds

My Value Board
2nd - Early 3rd Rounds His talent and play on the field warrant a selection this high.

Summary
It is paramount that the team that selects Basped immediately place him at the Outside Linebacker spot. Then his development and the teams return investment will quickly pay dividends for both. He truly has the skills to be dynamic at the next level!
